Asi Behar
VP, Software Engineering
Mr. Crankypants
In 1978 a crack commando unit of highly trained geeks was contracted by the Guatemalan government to design and construct the government's first computer. It was during this time that that Asi Behar was born to parents Isaac and Lea. Born one month premature and abandoned in a pile of spent vacuum tubes outside the computer room, Asi was forced to subsist off the computer's meager scraps.
The computer did not have the means to provide for him -- barely capable of maintaining a game of pong at the time -- however Asi thrived. Naked and around a room full of vacuum tubes, well… you know.
Fast forward a number of years later and you would find Asi sending off millions of computers around the world at Packard Bell NEC. For four years, Asi worked on everything from the corporate intranet and bug tracking system -- teaching himself html and vbscript -- to building computer softloads using a proprietary scripting tool designed to keep Microsoft Windows from hurting itself -- as it's so prone to doing.
After graduating from UCLA with a bachelor's in Political Science with a specialization in Business and Administration, Asi went back to his first love -- the internet -- working at the obscenely bubbled-out branding and internet development firm known as Razorfish. More than anything he was attracted to the pair of binoculars and the dancing, tutu-wearing clown.
Asi next worked at iBlast -- spending all his time engrossed in various development projects -- switching happily between designing and developing the systems to presenting them at Vegas tradeshows.
After the tragic realization that the internet was in fact, NOT going to be replaced by terrestrial broadcasts, Asi moved on to working for a stone surfacing company called CaesarStone -- building out a CRM system (with the help of 12DNetworks) that puts most others to shame. Based on that system, the company has doubled in size to 100 people in under four months. Talk about infrastructure!
Asi loves arguing about Middle East history and politics, getting all his news from blogs, playing tennis, and reading. To this date, Asi remains convinced that this whole "internet video" thing is just a fad, and people are going to go back to reading books and forming book clubs.
Asi speaks Hebrew, Italian, and Spanish and has spent quite a few months in Italy, constantly declaring Rome to be the best city on the planet (with Tel Aviv coming in a very close second). He's been all around Italy, Argentina, Turkey, Israel, and Brazil.
Asi joined Revver in April of 2006. It's his job to make sure everybody can syndicate Revver as easily and flexibly as humanly possible.
