The heart of Ponce is still a beautiful and if you spend a little time here, walking the beautiful restored and maintained residential streets around the plaza, you will begin to sense Puerto Rico as it was for hundreds of years before the dramatic changes of the last 50 years. There are two hotels right off the plaza, it is easy to arrive in the afternoon, walk around in the evening ( the fountain turns on around 5 pm) and continue on your way in the morning.
