Europe. 1944. The Height of World War II... Before he is shipped overseas to fight in the great war, a young American soldier, Nathan Braddock finds the journal of a woman named Holly whose words and drawings have captured his heart. Now, while miles from home and fighting on the front lines with the 2nd Ranger Battalion, Nathan begins a correspondence with Holly. Acquaintances become friends, friendship becomes love and the whole time neither knows what the other one looks like. Nathan writes to Holly asking for a photograph and she writes back that love is blind. Upon his return to America, they agree to meet at Grand Central Station, and there Nathan waits, for the girl wearing the red rose...
