From Ignition to Splashdown Launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis mission STS-117 was recorded by multiple cameras on board the solid rocket boosters. Watch the liftoff from the perspective of the cameras mounted on the boosters pointed towards the rear of the shuttle. The boosters then separate from the shuttle and float and spin away in space. Finally, the boosters splash down in the ocean and await recovery.
