My favorite jokes—and I've said this before—are the ones where the funniest line is not the punch line. In this case it's the set-up: "Two cannibals, sitting around the fireplace, eating clown." Eating clown!! The mere absence of the article "a" and it's a thousand times funnier. Who says a joke defies explanation? This is from our SOHO TO UNION SQ Expedition (NYC, Manhattan, May, 2007). We intended to cover a Soho street fair but the patrons wouldn’t give us eye contact, let alone a joke. Finally we realized everyone and their mothers were hawking wares, including a Chinese masseuse who practically wrestled Mocha into one of those weird chairs for a free sample.
