This piece is based on a real incident. I met a man sitting on a bench outside a small barbershop. It was a hot day, and I offered him a cup of water. The barbershop is now gone, the barber has passed away, and the man lost his other leg in a car accident. This poem is part of my Jerusalem Engine Repair Company collection now available online.
