Fringe Group Caught on Surveillance Video Raiding Sergeant’s Research Lab in an Effort to Save Fellow Insect Friends (Editors note: FTMLO is an entirely fictitious organization created by Sergeant's Pet Care Products as a humorous way to introduce Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Dogs.) Omaha, Neb., January 29, 2007 / PRNewswire / — Sergeant's Pet Care Products, Inc. today reported a break-in at its corporate headquarters and released a surveillance video filmed last night indicating the break-in was the work of members of the Flea, Tick and Mosquito Liberation Organization (FTMLO). Joel Adamson, senior vice president at Sergeant's, says it appears the FTMLO is on a mission to save its fellow flea, tick and mosquito friends from Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Dogs, the company's latest innovative flea, tick and mosquito control product. "I have never heard of the FTMLO, but I'll give them credit for one thing. They are correct in that Sergeant's will soon be releasing a new product that pesky fleas, ticks and mosquitoes have never encountered before," says Adamson. "You can see the desperation in their faces on the video." In addition to releasing the video to authorities, Adamson gives this written account of the break-in: FTMLO members dressed as fleas, ticks and mosquitoes sneak up to the door carrying flashlights and crowbars. The group leader pries open the front door. FTMLO members sneak through the halls and between cubicles on their way to the Sergeant's "testing area." A giant tick looks directly into the camera and blackens it out with spray paint. They enter the "testing area" and see a table with three white buckets labeled "Fleas, Ticks, Mosquitoes." Members open the bug containers. One mosquito yells, "Fly my brothers! Be free!" After a swarm of insects fills the air, ironically, members of the FTMLO begin swatting themselves. Realizing that their swatting is killing the very insects they intend to liberate, the group leader yells, "What have we done?" They all rush out of the room, except for the leader, who spray-paints "FTMLO.org" graffiti on the wall before dashing off. Last week, the FTMLO announced its formation as an official activist group and is urging people to go to www.ftmlo.org to help the group protest Sergeant's new product. The group's leader also is asking people to contact him through his blog at www.tick-talks.blogspot.com with any feedback or ideas on how to strengthen the fleas', ticks' and mosquitoes' fight for survival. Adamson says Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Dogs is a patent-pending formula that kills fleas in as little as one hour and ticks in as little as three hours, incredibly fast for a flea and tick control product. "We haven't even begun to tell the full story of our new product," says Adamson. "If the FTMLO is panicked this early in the game, they will soon have bigger issues to deal with."
